Chewing gum

Impacts chewing gum pollution

The visual pollution caused by chewing gum is certainly the best known. These stains on the ground are recognizable in your city streets, but also on terraces, in front of shopping mall entrances, on public transport seats... What is less well known is the environmental impact of chewing gum.

This non-biodegradable waste contains plastic and is responsible for polluting the environment with 100,000 tonnes of plastic a year. To this pollution must be added that generated by the cleaning of chewing gum from the ground. Toxic cleaning solvents or powerful water jets are often used to remove chewing gum from the ground.
